How to layer your skincare products?

Applying your Ativo Skincare products correctly is crucial to getting optimum results, but figuring out how and in what order to apply them can be tricky.

Here's a guide on how to layer your Ativo skincare products for the best results!

Types of Products
Generally, there is a rule that skincare should be applied from the thinnest to the thickest. In some cases like ours, we create products that we want in specific layers.
As a general rule of thumb, apply your products in this order: cleanser, toner, treatment serums, eye serum, facial creams, facial oil, and lastly SPF. Sunscreen always goes last, and the only product that should be applied over sunscreen is makeup.

Cleansers
First, you should use a cleanser. We, like to start with the Amor Hydrating Oil Cleanser for dry skin or the Pura Clarifying Oil Cleanser for combination/oily skin. The oil cleanser melts makeup away without over scrubbing the skin.
Follow the oils cleanser with the Soothing Cream Cleanser. This allows any traces of leftover makeup or pollutants to be washed away leaving a smooth clean canvas behind. Your next skincare products will have an optimal environment to work their best.
Daily morning routines, feel free to skip the double cleanse with the oil. Your evening routine however should always include the double cleanse method.

Toners
Toners help to reset your skin pH. Having a healthy balanced microbiome is essential for your Ativo Skincare products to work efficiently. Your Brightening Toner will impart moisture back into the skin while alpha hydroxy acids like the Exfoliating Rose Toner help get rid of any excess dead or dry skin cells that may be hanging around.

Facial Serums
Skincare products come in many different forms - it all depends on what type of skin problem you're trying to fix. If you have oily skin, sometimes you need more moisture in the skin to balance sebum production. Using the 3D Dew Drops which is a 2% Hyaluronic Acid Serum helps impart much-needed moisture into the skin.
Start with your 3D Dew Drops and follow with your Vital C 20 Vitamin C Serum for maximum benefit.

Moisturizers
The most important thing to keep in mind is that your skin needs a variety of products to be healthy. You can use oils, creams, and lotions to moisturize the skin but they are all different. They are all different types of moisturizers, so you need one for your face, one for your body, and one for your hands. We recommend a water-based facial cream with actives to really penetrate the epidermis and work within the skin. Your facial skin is far more delicate than your body so it requires a thinner lotion than your body.

Facial Oils
Think of your facial oils as barrier protection. It helps your skin retain moisture, blocks trans-epidermal water loss and seals your skin for a healthy microbiome. Delivering vital nutrients from the oils to the skin for optimal barrier protection.

SPF
Lastly, apply the set it and forget it moisturizer. Your SPF.  We recommend a fast-absorbing SPF to protect your skin from all the harmful UVA/UVB rays that cause sunburns and premature aging. This product needs to be kept in your bag at all times, so you can reapply throughout the day as needed. If you have acne-prone skin or an oily T-zone, choose a gel formula over a cream for optimal sunscreen protection.

In conclusion, we typically recommend starting with an oil cleanser and then using a gentle foaming cleanser. Next, use a toner to help prepare your skin for the serums and moisturizer. I recommend using a serum to target specific concerns such as wrinkles, pores, dark spots and hydration. Finish by applying the cream or lotion to seal in all of the benefits from earlier steps.
