Reasons Why Face Oil Is Beneficial For Oily Skin

4 Ways Face Oils Benefit Oily Skin

For decades, the notion of applying oil to oily skin has been met with skepticism. However, as skincare science evolves, so does our understanding of how face oils can revolutionize even the most complex skin types.

Face oils have long been associated with nourishing dry and dehydrated skin, but contrary to popular belief, their benefits for oily skin extend far beyond that.

In this article, we will delve into 4 ways in which face oils benefit oily skin, so if you've been avoiding face oils in your skincare routine, fearing they would exacerbate your oily skin, it's time to reconsider and embrace their transformative potential.

1. Regulate excess sebum production.

One of the primary concerns for individuals with oily skin is excessive sebum production, which leads to agreasy and shiny appearance, clogged pores, and acne breakouts.

That being said, there's a common misconception that adding oil to oily skin would only exacerbate the problem but that applying face oils can help regulate sebum production, which is the primary culprit behind oily skin.

When the skin lacks and is deprived of moisture, it goes into overdrive and overcompensates by producing more oil; this overproduction of oil leads to clogged pores and the formation of acne breakouts.

Face oils provide the skin with essential moisture and nutrients, signaling to the sebaceous glands that they don't need to produce excess oil. By balancing the skin's hydration levels, face oils help prevent the skin from going into oil-producing overdrive. As a result, you'll notice reduced excess oiliness and a more balanced complexion.

When selecting a face oil for oily skin, opt for lightweight, non-comedogenic oils, such as jojoba oil, grapeseed oil, and rosehip oil, as they have a low comedogenic rating and are less likely to clog your pores and contribute to breakouts.

2. Provide nourishment and hydration.

Contrary to popular belief, oily skin requires nourishment and hydration to maintain a healthy complexion.

Many face oils are rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and essential fatty acids and have a molecular structure similar to our skin's natural sebum. As a result, they penetrate deeply into the skin, providing intense hydration while delivering vital nutrients, all without clogging the pores.

Oils such as argan, rosehip, and squalane are excellent choices for oily skin due to their non-comedogenic properties, lightweight textures, and ability to promote cellular regeneration, resulting in a plump and youthful appearance.

3. Reduces acne and inflammation.

Oily skin is often associated with acne breakouts and inflammation, and although it may seem counterintuitive to apply oil to already problematic and troubled skin, certain face oils possess powerful anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties to combat acne and reduce inflammation.

Tea tree oil, for instance, is renowned for its ability to combat acne-causing bacteria and soothe inflamed skin. While oils like lavender and chamomile can help reduce redness and irritation, promoting a calmer complexion.

It's crucial to remember that everyone's skin is unique, and what works for one person may not work for another, so it's essential to experiment and find the perfect blend of oils that suits your needs. It's always a good idea to perform a patch test before using any new face oil and consult with a skincare professional if you have any concerns or persistent skin issues.

4. Restores the skin's protective barrier.

Oily skin is not immune to external aggressors and environmental stressors; face oils are a potent ally in restoring and strengthening the skin's protective barrier, thereby shielding it from external damage. By reinforcing the skin's defenses, face oils help retain moisture, fend off environmental pollutants, and promote a more resilient complexion.

In the realm of skincare, face oils have emerged as a remarkable solution for oily skin, defying conventional wisdom and transforming how we approach skincare routines.

Through their ability to regulate sebum production, provide essential nutrients, combat inflammation, and restore the skin's protective barrier, face oils offer a multitude of benefits for oily skin types.

The key lies in selecting oils that are well-suited for oily skin, ensuring they complement your existing skincare routine.

Je fais du psoriasis dans le cou mais je crois que c’est la suite du psoriasis du cuir chevelu. J’ai aussi beaucoup de sébum dans la figure et au cuir chevelu.
